about

Shards of Light kicks off the EP and it’s probably the most dance floor-orientated tune release so far. At its centre is the beautifully strange vocal hook which I feel is some kind of distant homage to Paul McCartney’s ‘Frog Song’ (it strangely fascinated me when it came out). I did have the sense of light shards moving across the eye, reflecting off the waves when I looked out at the Catalan Seaview when I was making to originally too.

Next up is Pandemonium and a bit of a monster. I think this was very much about contrasts (and a bit of mayhem) with the heavy baseline that comes in early, but leaves to let the rest of the tune journey on.

Phexa continues in a similar way but also pays gentle homage to one of my all-time electronic music heroes. The clue is in the name.

The EP finishes with Gaia which has quickly become one of my favourite arrangements to date. It started life as a fairly ambient, dreamlike piece but slowly morphed into this version which sits alongside the other 3 pieces more directly. It was always meant to feel spiritual but now also feels somewhat tribal, which I like.

I need to give a huge shout-out to Tom Wright who did his mastering magic on the EP, he’s a bit of a magician and really helps bring the sounds to life. The journey continues.
